How the Rolling Fat Burn Estimate Is Calculated

The calculator uses the standard MET (metabolic equivalent) method. One MET is the energy cost of sitting quietly, which is roughly 1 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour. From that baseline, activity MET values represent how many times harder your body works during that activity. The formula is:

Calories per minute = MET × 3.5 × body weight in kg ÷ 200

Total session calories = MET × 3.5 × body weight in kg ÷ 200 × duration in minutes. The body-weight and duration inputs are self-explanatory; the intensity choice determines the MET value. The calculator applies an estimated fat-energy share of about 65% for gentle rolling, 55% for moderate rolling, and 45% for firm or deep work, then converts the fat calories to grams by dividing by 9 kcal per gram. Example 1: 70 kg person, 20 minutes of moderate rolling
Total = 2.3 × 3.5 × 70 ÷ 200 × 20 = 56.4 kcal. Net movement calories = (2.3 − 1) × 3.5 × 70 ÷ 200 × 20 = 31.9 kcal. At a 55% fat-energy share, fat calories = 31.0 kcal, which works out to about 3.4 g of fat.
